Ardmore Bank burgled, 2 in custody
ARDMORE, Okla. (KXII) – Police say two teenage girls robbed a bank in Ardmore on Tuesday morning.
It happened around 9:30 a.m. when a girl walked into Simmons Bank on North Commerce Street and showed cashiers a note asking for money, saying she was armed.
Ardmore Police Captain Claude Henry said the bank handled the theft perfectly.
“They obviously did what they had to do,” Henry said. “They gave up the money. The most important thing is that we have a very good description. It was a very good line of communication between the bank and our dispatcher, which allowed us to narrow down our search for the suspect as a whole. ”
Ardmore Police found a car matching the description driving through a nearby neighborhood.
Charles Carr Jr. saw the suspects being arrested and recorded it.
“I was visiting my sister looking out that window and saw the car stop,” Carr said. “Five or six police cars stopped and they all ran towards the car with their guns on them. Took two girls out of the car. I didn’t know what was going on. I thought it was drugs.
Car said the suspects appeared to be cooperating with police.
“I’m glad they didn’t get shot,” Carr said. “They had the guns and ready. So they didn’t do anything and they didn’t get shot. The cops at Ardmore did pretty well.
Police found some of the stolen money near 12th Avenue and G Street.
Henry said they were able to track the money because there was a tracker inside.
“With any crime, there is a risk-reward factor,” Henry said. “Certainly with the way technology works, with everything businesses can do to protect themselves and report to us what’s going on, every time a heinous crime is committed the rewards keep going down. And the result of getting caught is definitely not worth the risk anymore. “
More money was found in the car, but police are still investigating whether it is related to the theft.
Henry said two suspects had been arrested.
According to the Carter County Jail, Kaitlyn Woodward was convicted of joint theft.
Since the other girl was a minor, her name will not be released unless she is tried as an adult.
