Behind the scenes at the 2022 Fragrance Foundation Awards Finalists Luncheon – WWD
The Fragrance Foundation brought the in-person events back with a bang.
Half-award show and half-meeting, the Fragrance Foundation hosted its 2022 Awards Finalists Luncheon in person for the first time since the pandemic began two years ago.
“We haven’t been together for this event in over two years. For many people in this room, this is their first time seeing each other,” said Linda Levy, President of the Foundation. “It’s a reunion and we’re all positive.”
Participants had good reason to celebrate. In addition to being named, their category is on fire. “We are living in a great moment for the industry, whether you are into super luxury or down to the masses,” said Jerry Vittoria, Global President of Fine Fragrance, Firmenich and Chairman of the Fragrance Foundation.
“Scent is about emotional connection with people, and the way we create, it has to feed off of everyone’s positive energy. So, we needed that,” he continued.
Echoing her sentiments, Lori Singer, president of Parlux, has won a slew of nominations for the company’s fragrance with Billie Eilish.
“Fragrance is on fire, and it’s wonderful to have the industry back,” Singer said. Billie Eilish’s perfume is performing better than expected, despite initial projections to hit $50 million in its first year of sales. “The fragrance is doing great, both in Ulta in the US and in the UK. We doubled the plan for the first month and exceeded all of our projections.”
