Do you know Giti tires? If you are a racing car driver or just a spectator at racing events, you must have heard this mark so many times. The main office of Giti Tires is located in Singapore but has manufacturing plants in many countries such as China, Indonesia and the United States. The Giti Tire brand is one of the manufacturers of quality and world-class tires. Did you know that they initially produced bicycle tires and tubes in Indonesia in 1951? And later they started to produce tires for passenger and utility vehicles. In 2017, a manufacturing plant was opened in South Carolina in the United States and a Giti office in Dubai. It was also the same year that they finally made their debut and went to the 24 Hours of Nurburging where they clinched 2nd place in its SP8 class.
All-female Giti Fearless team
Giti Tire Group initiates the capitalization or financing of drivers and motorsport events, under the Giti and GT Radial brands in order to promote their product to the public. They are one of the tire sponsors in countless motorsport events held in Asia and Europe. In October 2019, the Giti Audi R8 duo secured 1st and 2nd places in their SP8 category. This is Giti’s all-female racing team, and they made history by winning their category at the VLN Germany, an international competition. Yes, you read that correctly – an all-female group. The race car drivers, managers, chef and crew were a female-only team, which is the historic first race at the Nürburgring. The year 2021 is Giti Tire’s fifth year in the Nürburgring 24 Hour Motor Race, while it is the third year with the all-female team.
Did the girls follow Green Hell?
The Nürburgring is very popular due to its difficult and dangerous racing tracks. One of the risk factors is the sudden change in weather conditions. In addition, its rural configuration makes it difficult for emergency vehicles to access. Carrie Schreiner, Ronja Assmann and Jasmin Preisig are the first three racing car drivers to complete the first test on the Nürburgring circuit (also known as green hell). It was held on the weekend of March 23-24, 2019. They maneuvered the Volkswagen Golf VII GTI TCR from Giti, in partnership with WS Racing. Their first try on the auto racing loop was very successful. They conquered and managed to stay the course despite the fog and took 2nd place in their SP3T category. The team also completed the fastest lap in the SP3T class in 9: 21.725.
Why is the Nürburgring open to the public if it is dangerous?
Yes it is open to the public but not on certain sections of the fatal trail – it is prohibited. When driving on the track, it is necessary that the driver has a valid license and his car has legal documents to use on the auto racing circle. It is a requirement to use a car that performs well on the track like GT3 and GT4 cars. There is also a certain amount that you have to pay, so be sure to research that before hitting the road. The road is however closed during events and if there are any accidents that need to be repaired.
Drivers should think twice before deciding to try the track. When you’ve been in a car accident and needed emergency service or knocked down some barriers on the road, you are fully responsible and sometimes costly. What is the goal of the Nürburgring 24 Hours Motor Racing?
To begin with, this event was introduced by ADAC in 1970. ADAC stands for Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club and it is the largest automobile club in Europe. The Nürburgring 24 Hour Auto Race is an annual touring car and more like an endurance competition, which usually takes place in May or June, depending on weather conditions. It is exciting and enjoyable for spectators to witness this event, that some fans would even go camping around the circuit to cheer on their favorite racing driver. It is a difficult overall test for cars, to measure the endurance of the latter and the skill of an automobile driver to deal with the narrow road and the changing times when the altitude changes. The circuit also helps to highlight stability issues.
Giti Tire Motorsport All-Women Team Celebrates 5th Nürburgring 24 Hour Race
Having a great team made up of all women is an achievement unlocked by Giti Tire Motorsport with the partnership of WS Racing. Technically, Giti Tire is in its 5th year of participating in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring Motor Racing. While this is their 3rd year with their all-female team or the Giti Girls. The team received a high level of attention that is overwhelming for the girls and has led them to conclude that they can also do the type of performance men do – or can outdo them at times. They started off strong and continue on their toes to be constantly focused on achieving their goal. That being said, it is worth celebrating.
The 24 hour car racing event is a good validation to present the Nürburgring as one of the best tire testing grounds in Europe – even in the world. Running on the roads of the Nürburgring leads to different challenges and sometimes leads to death. But these brave race car drivers braved the road and risked their lives for their dreams. It is indeed a mixture of extreme and intensive testing at every turn. However, it is the most formidable accomplishment for a racing driver to finish the race in one piece and feel satisfying after completing a grueling 24 hour effort with flying colors.
