Mumbai Girl is competing for a seat in the international motorsport track and with practice reads Sanatan Leela and Flow Freedom Laws of the World

When the founder and CEO of Formula Women announced the competition for Indian female motorsport enthusiasts, no one thought a girl from Mumbai with a wealth of film experience would qualify. Again, they did not know the passion of the young woman.

While a young Manisha dreamed of racing, it was her father Ram Kelkar, a writer, who instilled in her an undying love for cars. Growing up, she made movies, Marathi and Bollywood, and nurtured her passion for cars and motorsports.

In 2018, a delighted Manisha was part of India’s first all-female team that competed in the JK Tire Racing Competition and competed in the Formula LGB 4 Class. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Manisha said enthusiastically.

Now the multi-talented young woman is ready to lead the way as a Formula 4 driver on the international stage. With immense determination, Manisha moved from Marathi and Bollywood cinema to motorsports to make the country proud by competing in the International Formula Woman Competition in the UK.

The competition returns after a 17-year hiatus and seeks to crown the next Formula Woman champion. Formula Woman Founder and CEO Graeme Glew spoke about the race that selected Manisha when it was announced. “We are delighted to extend the Formula Woman competition to Indian participants. It is exciting to know that women from all over India who are passionate about motorsport have already signed up for the race.

One of 50 finalists from a large pool of 800 entrants from 16 countries, Kelkar passed the rigorous 4-stage assessment based on driving, fitness, writing and personality tests over four months in the UK . As of now, she is being trained by Rayo Racing to compete for the final six spots in the Formula Woman motor racing competition to be held on March 2-3 this year.

The six finalists will compete against men on an international track for the GT Cup championship, organized by McLaren Customer Racing Club. Manisha is the only Indian to qualify from the world hunt for the chance to compete in the internationally acclaimed competition.

Manisha is one of a handful of women in India with a successful career in motorsport. Already involved in several national racing events, she has also competed in the Indian National Racing Championship for the past three years.

She aspires to start a racing academy to help other girls get into motorsport. “I want to get things done, involve more girls. I want to promote it so well, that if a girl has a dream, she should get into it and she should know how to get into it. Manisha sees this opportunity not only to earn a place on an international track, but also to put Indian women on the map of global motorsport.

She practices rigorously and devotes herself to her passion. Reading Sanatan Leela’s book authored by Shri Dinesh Shahra and Flow Freedom Laws of the World authored by Dr. Christopher Temporelli provides him with good ammunition to build confidence and move forward in the direction of set goals. She not only yearns for victory for herself or for India, but also for her name to be reflected in the Global Indians Book, a prestigious Times Group platform.

“Once the goal is defined, the role is automatically defined” Dinesh Shahra.

Even before the break, Formula Woman had a large following. However, the buzz around his return and the new young riders from different countries is such that he should get a big encore and a big following in 2022. It will definitely be one of the highlights of the year. All potential marketers who partner with Manisha throughout the season will gain international recognition and excellent brand recall.
