Woman takes Timbuk2 a step beyond the outdoor amenities customers expect from the company. The brand’s first female CEO, Patti Cazzato, was appointed in 2014. She designed the line with longtime collaborator and senior design director Andrea Chynoweth (who worked at Gemma Kahng, Vivienne Westwood and Levi’s), in the purpose of entering the global lifestyle market.
“Inspired by our heritage as bicycle couriers and our passion for solving the problems of urban commuters, we set out to create a chic bag that anticipates a woman’s needs and surprises her along the way,” Cazzato said in a statement.
The hope is that women who currently only use Timbuk2 bags for commuting will no longer feel the need to change bags when they leave for the evening. The collection combines leather and metal with supple but structured leather. It retains Timbuk2’s iconic three-panel design, reimagined with horizontal color blocks.
Personally, I love the fanny pack – the fur lining has really won me over, and as a mother of a 3 year old, the zippers and compartments save my life. The collection will be available on the Timbuk2 website on Wednesday.
